This is the official Edward Eager thread, tho' I fear Ben and I will be the only people who have read these...ahem!...rother obscure books. I myself have only read three. 
But anyway! We shall ramble about our readings, our preferences and discuss whether E.E. had God in mind when he wrote the series.

You'd be surprised, Pip... I think you'll get a bit more turn-out than you expect. I've read all the ones that Ben has (he's my bro, y'know), and I know that a few other people around here have read them.
Actually, Seven Day Magic was one of my BookMooch books! I haven't re-read it yet, too much new stuff floating around, plus school work.

I've read Half Magic, Magic By the Lake, and Knight's Castle. I liked Half Magic the best. I mean to read more, but I haven't been to the library very often lately and I rather forgot about the books.

We have at least five of them reviewed on Incredibooks... I'm a bit miffed, though, that because of our new Amazon linking system, you can't find most of the authors by searching for them (are you reading this, Jordan?), since their name is no longer actually part of our site's content. So the only way you can find Eager's books on there is if you search by individual title. Well, with a few exceptions, but I won't get into that.

E.E. could stand for Elizabeth Enright or Eleanor Estes
I've only read Half Magic. It was all right...sort of a lower-quality Nesbit knock-off.

Oh, no, Alyosha...
Eager is not a Nesbit knock-off, for the very reason that his characters have all read Nesbit (and most of his books! :D), so they wish that they could have Nesbit-like adventures. He's always careful to acknowledge that his "mentor" was Nesbit, by always having her books presented clearly in the story. Plus, the Eager adventures tend to be both a bit more crazy, and a bit more modern.

I've read all that Alassiel has. I didn't really like Magic by the Lake as much as Knight's Castle and Half-Magic.

One of my favorite things about Edward Eager is that he always manages to work in something from one of his other books. For example, the girl from the end of Half-Magic appears in one of the adventures in Seven-Day Magic. He did that sort of thing all the time!

His books are very light-hearted and fresh, almost. I like to escape into one of those types of books now and again.
