And while I'm at it...
These are so good, I own all four!
When I first read Tears of a Dragon, I made the unfortunate mistake of reading it straight through in one long car trip. I was emotionally and mentally exhausted for a few days afterward!

You're kidding. Really???
I read the series...and have mixed feelings. I loved the start of the first book, it was very pleasant. The second and third book were way over my head technology-wise, and the fourth somewhat rocked. The poetry was awesome, as good as Longfeller. I didn't like Billy, I loved Walter, Bonnie was ok, Professor Hamilton rocked and Hambone stole the show!
But the main thing that bothered me while reading these books was that the kids remained modern, unlike the Door Within where Aidan and the rest slipped into their surroundings considerably better. (The fourth book in the DIOM might be an exception to this disgruntled impression o' mine.) Anyway, Billy would be like "Rockin' sword, dude!"
"Step back, cur, or I shall have thine head!" said the dark man, flashing his sword over Billy's hair.
"Ok, no prob, knight-feller. Peace out!!!"
You git the idear.
Well, considering that they were living in a modern world, it wouldn't make much sense for them to be un-modern.
I've only read the first book, but I liked the fact that they talked modern-style. It was funny, and it makes more sense.
Thoughts on DioM...hmm let's see.
Raising Dragons: Average
The Candlestone: Not bad
Circles of Seven: Quite liked it, especially Dragon's Rest and Shiloh
Tears of a Dragon: Very disappointing
[/heretical opinions]
My favourite character is Gandalf the cat.
I loved the first two, the idea of flying over your school with a half dragon girl...SWEET! But the third one I had trouble getting into. Maybe I didn't stick it out long enough, or maybe I was just getting sick of them, after reading the first two right after each other. The last one looks interesting!
The first and fourth are the best, but like I've said before: the middle ones went way over my head as far as technology went! The only thing that kept me reading was perhaps Professor Hamilton and Walter!!! And the fact that I might have wanted to find out what happens next...
I have read the first three. I really like this series. My favorite book is probably the third one. Can't wait to read the fourth to see how everything works out.
I really like Ashley. She is my favorite character in the series.
Everyone knows that Bryan Davis is currently writing a new sequel series for DIOM, called Children of the Bard, right? First book is Song of the Ovulum.
Another series of Dragons in our Midst? What is this the third? I hope it will be good.
Yes, this will be the third series. Bryan Davis has said multiple times on his Facebook page that the first book will blow people away. Can't wait!
hey. new member. just read this. and how'd you find out three months ago?! i just found out this week!! i also belong to the dragonsinourmidst.com/forums site.
Jaxx, that's strange. I'm a member of the DIOM forums, too, and I know at least some of this information was there three months ago. I also follow Bryan Davis on Twitter and Facebook so that I can keep up with all the news.
I am in the middle of reading the first one...the prequel/first one in Oracles of Fire and then I have all for DIOM books.
