    See our blog post here!

I'd heard a rumor earlier this year that the 2008 book would be a fourth in the Castaways series. And then I just recently found the cover and information for a Redwall Book 20, Doomwyte. Now it looks like we'll be getting both! What do you think about that?

Yay! I haven't read any Redwall, but I love the Castaways books! It'll be great to have a fourth. I should buy the first three sometime. When I read them, I borrowed them from the library. They were excellant. ^_^

    Good heavens, another Redwall book?

I like Redwall, but it seems turning into a formulaic mega-series. ah well...the summary does sound interesting.

*oughtn't to talk, because she has still only read 2/3 of the books*

Well, this one certainly sounds like he's going out of his usual mold. I mean, he hasn't really (officially) ventured to write a scary Redwall book, and this one sounds like it will be quite chilling. *is excited at the prospect*

But it has the usual treasure hunt/search for a lost heirloom plus vermin-attacking-the-Abbey sort of plotline.

It does sound more scary though. Hypnotic lights, ravens, snakes...yup. Even the cover is a little more, I don't know, intense?

Hmm. . . I don't know if I like intense Redwalls. Mattimeo was creepy enough. I'll have to read the summary on this one.

But, I shall try not to judge it until I read it.

I can't believe I didn't know about Doomwyte! I try to keep up on the Redwall news, but nothing has been posted yet on the author's website about it. I like Redwall no matter what, creepy is okay, similar plot is okay, as long as it's Redwall. I really hope there will be a 4th Castaways this year. Speaking of which, I need to re-read Voyage of Slaves.

Hey, I don't mind if Jacques writes 100 Redwall books! Yup, Doomwyte sounds spooky. It's coming out sometime in October.
Did y'all know that his last name is actually pronounced Jakes? I find that rather hard to believe...

I've always pronounced it Jakes. It just seemed to be the easiest pronunciation.

I liked pronouncing it Shaques, like a French guy; it was fun to say! Think I might just stick with that.

Pip here again; I wrote to Mr. Jacques (PM me if you want the address), and today I received a package from the Redwall Reader's Club...or something like that....Inside were bookmarks, recipes, a poster, an ad (ugh!) and a letter from Mr. Brian, tho' not handwritten or anything...one of those things he sends to everyone. But it was cool, all the same.

I was part of the Redwall Readers Club for awhile. It's fun to get all the cool stuff. Except sometimes they would send a package with nothing but a poster. I liked the bookmarks the best. I might rejoin again soon, with new books coming out.

What's everbody's thoughts on that? It looks a bit dark. (Compared to the previous books of his, anyway!)

He's done some darker stuff before, and I really think that he hits his stride when he's being a bit more spooky. Castaways of the Flying Dutchman is certainly my favorite of maybe all of his books.
