Hey i've just finished a book called "Endworlds" it's a really good read

It's kind of a sci-fi book but it's also a new kind of book called "reality literature" where events that happen in the real world are then written into the book, then the evens in the book dictate new events in the real world. Seriously amazing!!After the first book it leads to a treasure hunt in the real world and the people who find the treasure are written into the sequel! So that means YOU could be in a book!!

I don't think i've seen a book like it before check it out - http://bit.ly/wMYrSt

Would be great to have a group on here to discuss it, to help with the clues, puzzles ect!

This is the thread where you can sign up for Summer Read-a-Thon 2011. If you haven't yet read the rules, you should do that before you sign up.

Here's the drill: Because this year's Read-a-Thon is taking place on three forums, you may sign up on any of the participating forums. Those are Incredibooks (you are here), Holy Worlds Fantasy, and Holy Worlds Sci-fi.

For the sake of the sanity of the organizers and just plain simplicity, we ask that you please only post the books you've read on the forum you signed up on. Feel free to talk in the chatter threads on any of the three forums you are a member of, however.

So, without further ado, this thread is open for signing up until June 30! And the Read-a-Thon starts on June 13, so hop to it. <img src="http://incredibooks.com/ibdiscuss/my-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_smile.gif" title=":-)" class="bb_smilies" />

What are y'all's take on poetry? I love it, when it's not ridden with ten-dollar words or dreadfully long. Longfellow and Dickinson both are wonderful, and "Curfew Must Not Ring Tonight" is one of my favorite poems. Funny, I can read and listen to music, but I can't do that with poetry. "Favorite Poems Old and New" is a big fat satisfying book seperated into sections (a few are redundant) and is a very good poetry resource.
So what about it?

I have found great enjoyment in reading literature and then watching the movie or show based on it! It's so fun to compare. Netflix and the local library are great places to find book-based movie material... Someone try it and tell me their success (or lack thereof, not all movie adaptations are that great!).

2nd Annual Incredibooks Summer Read-a-Thon
Guidelines

The goal is to read as many pages as you can during the summer.

Important! Make sure that you join the Read-a-Thon before the cut-off on August 15th. After August 15th, we will not be accepting any new entries. If you are already in the Read-a-Thon, you can keep recording your books read, but nobody new will be able to join.

General Rules:

Read a book, then post the title, author, and number of pages in the 2008 Summer Read-a-Thon thread. Then at the bottom of your post, keep a running total of pages you’ve read so far. Here's a sample:

Redwall, by Brian Jacques. 333 pages.

Lord Brocktree, by Brian Jacques. 345 pages.

	Running total: 678 pages

The Read-a-Thon starts on June 1st, 2008 and ends August 31st, 2008. All the books that you post must be read in the time between those two dates. This thread will be opened on June 1st, 2008.

Details:

What counts as a page?

Any book that is in or above your approximate reading level counts toward the number of pages read. We're not going to be super strict on this, but try to stay near your reading level.

Books below your reading level do count if read aloud to others. So if you read a picture book to a younger sibling, you can count those pages!

Insights

Last year, most of the participants began to give their thoughts on the books that they had completed as they were listing them. This is fine, in fact, we encourage that you do this. Tell everybody that the last book you read was great, and that they need to read it! Also, don't forget that you can discuss the book in greater detail by starting a thread about it on the Incredibooks forum.

The Winners

After August 31st, we will post a list of participants and the number of pages that they read during the Read-a-Thon. Then we'll announce the winners of the prizes!

The prizes consist of four books. Beyond the Reflection's Edge by Bryan Davis, DragonSpell by Donita K. Paul, Isle of Fire by Wayne Thomas Batson (signed by the author!), and Raising Dragons by Bryan Davis.

The person who reads the most pages will receive their choice of the prizes. We will then randomly choose from the participants for the other prizes. Incredibooks reviewers and their families cannot win prizes, so in the event that one of them reads the most pages, we will pick the person who has read the next most.

Questions about the Read-a-Thon?

Post your questions about the Read-a-Thon in the Read-a-Thon questions thread.

Where do you find books? Do you order them? Do you own all your readings or frequent the library, or both?
I own hundreds (literally) of books and can prance down the library isles saying "Oh yeah, I've read that!" Mom orders 'penny books' from Amazon for cheap at B-days, Christmas and Tax Time, and the librarians know my name.
I've recently discovered a cool new site called Paperback Swap (.com) taht lets you trade books for practically free. Anyone use that? You can sell your unwanted books (and they don't haveta be paperbacks, they sell hardback and audios too) for 'credits', and with every credit, you can order a book. There are printable mailing sheets with the addresses, and all you haveta do is meet a deadline to ship a book and pay for the postage (books you order are at the sender's expense). The nasty thing is, you get a LOT of emails and books that were once posted on the site and sold out are still on there, so if you're looking for something specific and they don't have it, you won't know when another copy's gonna come in. You can put it on your Wish List and they'll notify you with an email if a copy's come in...but that may never happen! All in all, it's a cool site, cheap, and fun to order things meself.
Of course...Amazon's always there with cent books for those you can't find here: http://www.paperbackswap.com/ ! <img src="http://incredibooks.com/ibdiscuss/my-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_wink.gif" title=";)" class="bb_smilies" />
